I read your description and still not sure how this was done. I do respect your point of view.

But I also want to understand your "point of view". What you described can also consider a photo manipulation, but you said it is not so ....... if U don't mine a little more explainable to explain your point of view. :)

My comments were mainly directed at the moderator(sorry). I should be more trusting but having to deal with the arrogance of wynnesome/losesome when she feels she knows more about what category your work should be in has made me gun shy.

What's not to respect? It has a vintage look, which I believe is what you intended. The simple, relatively conservative portrayal reinforces this "old time" style. It is appealing.
